What is a Parent Coach?
A Parent Coach has the knowledge, understanding and skills to support parents with the emotional and practical aspects parenting journey. This can include listening to what the parent is experiencing at the moment, helping them to get grounded and present, exploring how they would like things to be and discussing small steps they can take towards their aims.
Why don't parents just have standard coaching?
Traditional coaching approaches can focus on the person living their best life, or making big and dramatic changes. This is not always realistic for parents with children who experience the world differently. It can make people feel worse if they feel they cannot achieve big changes immediately.
They may also feel the common 'Law of Attraction' or 'You create your own reality' approaches make them feel worse in the short term. They may not have the standard 90 minutes to spend in a coaching session, or be able to afford the luxury price tag of many coaching programmes.
How does this approach differ?
This approach is designed to support the parent to focus on where they are right now, their feelings about their experiences, and what they can do with what they have. It focuses on healing, empowering and agreeing to achievable tasks, that are designed to work with whatever else is going on in their lives.
